What do we mean by community-based strategies?

Too often, Oakland has been ruled from the top-down.

We need to change this.  How do we do it?

I will do it by listening to you. 

If there is one thing my time in community development has taught me, it is that it is the people

COLLECTIVELY

that have the answers. 

You may not always agree.  In fact, you may not agree at all sometimes.

But what comes out of a community-based process that really hears all people is often a profound thing.

We need a lot more of that in District 5.  And my goal is to deliver it.
