Here are some statements of support from Friends of David Wofford:

From Philip Ralph Grinslade:

"I am very favorably impressed with the assertions in
your letter and offer you my best wishes. Oakland has
certainly suffered from neglect for many years as no
one has come forward with sufficient leadership to
address the problems and motiviate the people to move
in the direction of a conscious community. It is a
problem that is very common in our country as we seem
to expect the agencies and institutions of our
political system to move when the citizens do not
insist on the course of action.

Therefore, let me offer my support to you and the
notion that it takes an enlightened community to forge
the way into handling the social problems that come
with political inertia.

Let me wish you well. I especially hope that you can
help to create a bond between the hispanic and black
communities as it will take both communities in
Oakland to achieve progress. I believe that Ron
Dellums is intending to do all he can, but he cannot
do it alone. The Oakland Police Department does not
seem to be in sync with the community as a whole, but
then who am I to say anything? Let me wish you well.
You have made a good choice and I pray that God will
bless you at each step of your way. The one thing I
know is that you deeply care for what is good and that
is absolutely necessary if one is to make a positive
contribution. Avoid any temptation that would every
compromise your character!

Best wishes,

philip"
