Trinity

This Sunday we will honor and celebrate that we are people who worship our God, three in one – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (or Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer). Each person of God is a separate and distinct person in the triune (three-part) nature of God. God is three persons who are interconnected as one God. This can be confusing to some, but each person of God is mentioned throughout the entirety of the Bible. The Bible backs this up. What is more, Jesus tells his disciples to, “go therefore and make disciples of Jesus, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” Jesus gives us the roadmap for the Way, and the Way of Christ is to walk daily with God who is three persons.

Trinity is inherently a community. They work together in all things and in all decisions. Each works in tandem and with mutuality for the others. This model of community compels us to likewise work out our faith in Christ-centered community. This is the role of the Church. This is why we are connected not just in our marriages, our families, and our congregations, but also, we are to be connected as people who follow Jesus in our communities, and the whole world. Decisions are modeled at the Table of God. This is why we center ourselves as people of God around the Table of Holy Communion, and the administrative sessions of our congregations. When we prayerfully come together to seek God’s Triune model for our lives, the Triune God – three in one – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit shows us the Way.

I give thanks for the Community and Communion modeled by God!
